I had a few WTF moments while watching this vid, here are a few...

1:30 Mark: The breaking glass (ahem...attacking the door) was more like "Hey, Lieu...How do I do this again?" Lieu- "Idunno??? Why you lookin at me?"
My 5 yr old swings his wiffle bat harder & with more purpose!

2:20 Mark: I found the fire room! Yet there was a lack of real attack to the room, but the 3Live crew did a bang up job looking 'camera ready'! Coulda been humpin a 2 1/2" making a big dent

3:00 Mark: Again WTF with standing so far out side with a partial fog...was that like a water curtain so the engine doesnt catch fire???

3:15 Mark:  Why didnt they swing into Dennys & grab a short stack??? It looks like they are gonna be there awhile...BTW is this fire still burning?...Overall I saw more effort from the ProBowlers this past weekend...WTF? C'Mon MAN!

You'd think that someone would have made an attack in the "Currency Exchange" store!!

Deuce,

I think you're being a little to hard ayy; you know ayy.  My little sister swings an axe like that too ayy, and I'm really proud of her ayy.

And why do you americans insist on the big hoses ayy, you know we can fight fire with a little hose and for sure there's going to be beer and donuts to feast on ayy.

Not to be to harsh on our Canadian brothers  but this is a good example where departments are scared to let their guys do the job. They are not trained to be aggressive and when a fire like this comes out they do not have the ability to make basic functions happen like forcing doors or getting in position to attack the fire and keeping it from spreading. Keep politicians out of fire departments and we might be able to have Chiefs get hired with knowledge of the job and a set of balls to do what we need to do our jobs. Getting off my soap box now.

OK..... painful to watch... I noticed (reading smoke) that the fire was relatively  small and in rear of the store (pizza place.. I'm shocked) Probably had early notification via Fire Alarm ..?  Thats my first thought... 2nd is Small lines... Looked like a 1 1/2 car fire line off the bumper of a tower ladder.... 3rd... 2 - 2 1/2 or the Blitz fire in the front of the flashed store would have been an option....Pansy axe position on the truck was followed very well  UGH!  Love the 100 gpm fog in the rear of the stores!! Oh man!~

Was any attempt made to attack the fire from the rear of the store with two and one half lines and push the fire out the well vented front??? The apparent timid attack on the front door was in compliance with a new law sponsored by the Canadian Animal League which requires the rescue of any rodents which may be within the structure. Just joking. The five man hydrant team is a new innovation. These guy's should spend some time in Detroit.

thought that when the fire seen the crews were no where to be found....... Maybe they were all recruited to try and get aswingat that glass door. And just outof curiosity, at around the 3:38 mark i noticed blinking GREEN lights two intersections down. Is this normal in some places around here its blinking yellow and red.

Force the door for crying ot loud. And when you do have a charged line ready. I dont think the problem there was an inch and a half. I think the problem there was after they finally opened the door they waited till the fire was lapping up the roof to attack it. Open the door and attack it right away. Works better that way.

Gotta love how they didn't even secure the utilities. But, given the absence of any scene lighting from the rigs, I guess they needed the extra light.

Canada must be trailblazing some new tactics, but I'm pretty sure that dousing the smoke doesn't put the fire out.  But who knows, I'm not Canadian, so I could be wrong, eh.

If we're going to throw Canada under the bus based on this, should we throw the US under the same bus based on what Lake Station (among others) does?

I'll disagree, but offer this instead, eh:  Surrey Fire is Canada's Lake Station.
